Our Second Annual Mohonk Knitting Retreat  was a huge success. There was something for everyone.  Guests enjoyed the spa, gym, and the great outdoors.  The weather warmed up slightly to make it more appealing.  The views wherever you looked were breathtaking. We enjoyed catching up with friends from last year’s retreat and making friends with the newcomers.

What did you enjoy most about the retreat? The venue – great facilities, meeting new people, variety of activities for all, inspiration, the food, relaxing – no pressure, come and go as you please, goodie bag and prizes.

There were four workshops. Westport Yarns teachers are versatile and excellent.

The students knit this fantastic headband with two colors.  In this picture she used a solid and a variegated to get the effect.

Students got an Introduction to the lighter side of Not Just Plain Jane knits. The teacher we had (Jane) was great!
Julie gave an Intro to Cables Class including a lecture on history and legends surrounding cables.
Pam gave a Crochet for Knitters class.
We had an exclusive trunk show with Jill Draper Makes Stuff yarn. On the tables were two different types of  laceweight (one angora blend, one merino/silk blend), superwash merino fingering and worsted (the worsted was the biggest hit), and two bulky weight yarns that were a little more rustic.
Don’t worry, there was some left to bring back to the shop.

What did you enjoy most about the retreat? Chance to get to know the staff from Westport Yarns.
Coming to Mohonk is a real getaway.  Very relaxing and yet there is a lot to do.  Setting is beautiful and food is fantastic.
Did you like the Venue of Mohonk? Yes, for the value, I doubt if this can be topped.
(The retreat) wasn’t long enough – wish I had a day more.
