Francine and Eleanor are having such fun in class! They are both knitting this summer Romanian cotton Lacey Cardigan from Ella Rae Pansies.  Its subtle colorations are so pretty.

Joan fell in love with the cute tye dyed baby onesie/yarn kits we have in the shop.  The kits come with patterns for smaller items like hats, mittens, and socks.  She cleverly bought 2 kits, with onesies in different sizes, so she would have 2 skeins of yarn to work with.

She’s knitting Chloe Cardigan.  The yarn is slightly thinner than the pattern calls for ~ she’s winging it.  She bought these cute leggings to complete the ensemble.

Gina is knocking off these crocheted chain necklaces.  The pattern is free when you purchase a skein of novelty yarn.  One skein yields quite a few necklaces.  She’s played around with differen ways of fastening off. The one on the left is Schulana Macaibo yarn and the one on the right and below is Dazzle.

She is also working on this great African flower motif for a bag.  We may have to do a class in the shop with this motif.  It’s really great looking.

Since the hook Gina is working with is so small, she discovered a trick to making a handle grip so her hand doesn’t cramp from holding a narrow hook.  First she wraps the hook with non-stick gauze and then she slides 2 pencil grips over the gauze.  Ingenious!

Susan knit this casual, yet elegant cardigan in Bergerine yarn.  She thoroughly enjoyed knitting with it and how it worked up in the pattern.

The pattern is #14 Short Jacket fromthe Irish Knitting Magazine, No. 159.

The Catkin class started this week.  This is an incredibly clever, well written pattern.  There are many different ways to wear it.

Diane chose not to knit garter stripes.  She is doing a stockinette stripe instead. She is knitting with Madelinetosh Tosh sock yarn.

Jeannine is using Koigu for the darker color.

Cynthia is knitting with Ellyn Cooper Yarn Sonnets Zohars Sock yarn.

Joan and Carol are knitting their Catkins in the same 2 colors of Madelinetosh Tosh sock yarn.

For those of you (like me) who did not know what a Catkin looked like.  There it is.

Celeste knit this Ivory Cabled Coat from the Vogue Knitting January Issue.

The Coat was modeled by Jennifer.

Kim knit the Shetland Tea Shawl in Prism Lace Wool,

from the book A Gathering of Lace.

Beautifully done, it is elegant and ethereal.

Joan knit her grandson the Button-up Vest in Prism Symphony yarn.

She did a lovely job knitting it up and the yarn is simply exquisite!

She also finished knitting this cute little preemie hat.

Lois knit the Mara shawl in Malabrigo Rios   The pattern allows a hand dyed yarn to show off to it’s finest.

Sue knit the Gamin Vest with Tess yarns.  I fell in love with it instantly.  It’s knit top down which means little or no finishing.  Always a plus in my book.  The cable work shows up beautifully in this yarn.  Sue said she learned a lot from knitting this pattern.  A vest like this is can be worn year-round!

Dorothy finished her Sea Lettuce scarf from the class she took with Julie.

Mary also took Julie’s class and knit the scarf in Blue Heron Rayon Metallic.

This is a very versatile pattern that lends itself well to many different yarns.
