<p>Joan fell in love with the cute tye dyed baby onesie/yarn kits we have in the shop.  The kits come with patterns for smaller items like hats, mittens, and socks.  She cleverly bought 2 kits, with onesies in different sizes, so she would have 2 skeins of yarn to work with.</p>
<p><a href="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/joan2.jpg"><img title="joan2" src="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/joan2-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a><a href="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/joan11.jpg"></a></p>
<p>She&#8217;s knitting <a title="chloe" href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/chloe-8" target="_blank">Chloe Cardigan</a>.  The yarn is slightly thinner than the pattern calls for ~ she&#8217;s winging it.  She bought these cute leggings to complete the ensemble.</p>
<p><a href="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ginanecklace.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3649" title="ginanecklace" src="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ginanecklace-268x300.jpg" alt="" width="268" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>Gina is knocking off these crocheted chain necklaces.  The pattern is free when you purchase a skein of novelty yarn.  One skein yields quite a few necklaces.  She&#8217;s played around with differen ways of fastening off. The one on the left is Schulana Macaibo yarn and the one on the right and below is Dazzle.</p>
<p><a href="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ginanecklace1.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3650" title="ginanecklace1" src="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ginanecklace1-300x145.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="145" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ginaafrican.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3652" title="ginaafrican" src="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ginaafrican-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a></p>
<p>She is also working on this great African flower motif for a bag.  We may have to do a class in the shop with this motif.  It&#8217;s really great looking.</p>
<p><a href="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ginahook.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3653" title="ginahook" src="http://westportyarns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ginahook-300x200.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></a></p>
<p>Since the hook Gina is working with is so small, she discovered a trick to making a handle grip so her hand doesn&#8217;t cramp from holding a narrow hook.  First she wraps the hook with non-stick gauze and then she slides 2 pencil grips over the gauze.  Ingenious!</p>

<p>Mary also took Julie&#8217;s class and knit the scarf in Blue Heron Rayon Metallic.</p>
<p>This is a very versatile pattern that lends itself well to many different yarns.</p>
